After upgrading the original KM-34 mask to the D version, Soviet designers continued to work on refinement of the design. Their end result became known as KM-34D series 2 mask and it's a question why they choose to keep the old name for the mask that looked nothing like its predecossors.

KM-34D series 2 spots a totally redesigned shell which is now made out of plastic. Oxygen hose connector was once again moved to the left like on the KM-32 mask. Coming out from the right side of the mask is a connector for the occipital bladder and microphone wiring, which finally became a standard equipment on the mask. In the front, KM-34D series 2 mask has a connector for the second smaller hose. It looks excatly like those found on earlier mask, but is covered with a round rubber cap which gives mask a much sleekier view.

KM-34D series 2 mask can be hooked up to most of the older Soviet aircraft as it used excatly the same plug.

Microphone wiring located on the right side of the mask. Also can be seen an occipital bladder connector.
Hose plugs - the bigger one looks excatly as on all of the previous mask. Smaller one uses same connector, but also has what looks like a regulator attached to it.
Close up on the mask's hook - it stayed the same as in earlier KM-34 masks.
Close up shot of the nose area. Small star is stamped out under the top screw and near the bottom screw is a circle with number 2 inside - it's the size of the mask. There are no other stamps on the outside shell.
The rubber piece located isnide of the mask has its serial number and size stamped out on the right side.
Inside of the KM-34D series 2 mask - in the center is a microphone, to the left is the microphone's wiring exit and to the right is the oxygen hose assembly through which oxygen comes into the mask.
Close up on the mask's left side where oxygen hose connects with the mask.
Located in the front of the mask is a rubber cover which covers smaller hose connector.
